# Sign-in and account problems

Source: https://docs.qualflare.com/docs/faq/sign-in-problems · Last updated: 2026-11-02

Fix Qualflare sign-in problems: single sign-on errors, two-factor setup at sign-in, locked or deactivated accounts and access errors, with each exact message.

When you can't sign in to Qualflare, the sign-in page shows the reason: single sign-on is required, two-factor setup is due, the account is deactivated, or too many passwords failed, which adds a CAPTCHA; this page lists each message.

## Passwords and lockouts

After repeated failed sign-ins for one email address, from any network, password sign-in asks for a CAPTCHA before it checks the password, until the next successful sign-in.

A new password needs 14 to 256 characters, and Qualflare refuses common and breached passwords.

> **Caution:** Setting a password from a reset email signs you out everywhere, revokes every access token you created, in every project, and disconnects any sign-in provider you linked since your oldest unexpired session signed in. CI pipelines that use your tokens stop working until you create new ones.

To reset your password, click **Forgot password?** on the sign-in page, then **Send reset link**, and open the link in the email. It expires in 60 minutes, and if you asked more than once, only the most recent link works. See [Change your password](https://docs.qualflare.com/docs/administration/account-security#changing-your-password).

## Email verification

An email and password account signs in only after you confirm its email address. Until then, sign-in opens **Verify your email**: open the link in the email from Qualflare, or click **Resend email**. The link expires in 60 minutes, and if you asked more than once, only the most recent link works. A password reset confirms your email too.

| ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| `Verify your email address, then sign in again.` | Open the verification link, then sign in again |
| `An account with this email address already exists but isn't verified yet. Check your inbox for the verification link, verify your email address, then sign in again.` | Verify the email address of your Qualflare account, then sign in with Google or GitHub again |

Signing up again with an address that has an account creates no second account: Qualflare sends the address an email with the subject `You already have an account`, with a sign-in link and a password reset link.

## Single sign-on

When single sign-on fails, the sign-in page names the reason and what to do.

*Figure: After a failed single sign-on, the sign-in page names what to do next.*

Signing out of Qualflare doesn't sign you out of your identity provider, so on a shared computer, sign out there too.

If your workspace locked itself out, its Owner emails support: see [Recovering from a lockout](https://docs.qualflare.com/docs/administration/sso#recovering-from-a-lockout). The Owner sets up the connection: see [Set up with your identity provider](https://docs.qualflare.com/docs/administration/sso#identity-provider-guides).

## Google and GitHub sign-in

## Two-factor authentication

When a workspace you belong to requires two-factor authentication and your account has no second factor, you set one up the next time you sign in, before you can get in. After a Google, GitHub or single sign-on sign-in, the page then says `Two-factor authentication is set up. Sign in again, the same way as before, to continue.`, or `Your two-factor setup expired or was already used. Sign in again, the same way as before, to start it over.`

| Message                                                                                   | What to do                                                                                        |

| `Too many incorrect codes. Use a recovery code, try again later, or reset your password.` | Use a recovery code, try again later, or reset your password |

An invitation to such a workspace says `This workspace requires two-factor authentication. Set it up on your account, then come back here and accept.` [Set up an authenticator app](https://docs.qualflare.com/docs/administration/account-security#setting-up-2fa), then accept.

Lost your authenticator app? Use a recovery code: see [Turn off the authenticator app](https://docs.qualflare.com/docs/administration/account-security#disabling-2fa). If you've lost every second factor and every recovery code, contact support from the account's email address; support checks your identity before it removes your second factors, and that signs you out everywhere.

For how a workspace requires it, see [Require two-factor authentication](https://docs.qualflare.com/docs/administration/authentication).

## Deactivated or deleted account

`This account has been deactivated. To restore it, contact support from the email address the account uses.` means the account can't sign in any way, and only Qualflare support can restore it. An account is deactivated when:

* it stays unused: see [Inactive accounts are deactivated](https://docs.qualflare.com/docs/administration/account#inactive-accounts);
* you delete it with **Delete Account**: see [Delete your account](https://docs.qualflare.com/docs/administration/account#delete-your-account).

To restore it, email support from the address the account uses, as [When to contact support](https://docs.qualflare.com/docs/faq/getting-help#when-to-contact-support) describes.

## Workspace and project access

When your account can't open a workspace or project, Qualflare shows one of these.

**Symptoms:**

* The **Workspace not found** page: `This workspace doesn't exist or you don't have access to it.` For a project, **Project not found**: `This project doesn't exist or you don't have access to it.`
* The message `You no longer have access to this workspace.` (or `You no longer have access to this project.`) when Qualflare takes you back to your workspaces
* The **Invitation Not Found** page: `This invitation could not be found or is no longer available.`

**Possible causes:**

* Not invited to the workspace
* Removed from workspace
* Signed into wrong account
* Workspace suspended or deleted

**Resolution steps:**

1. Check your current account:
   * Click your profile icon in top-right
   * Verify you're signed in with the correct email

2. Switch workspaces:
   * Click the arrows next to the workspace name at the top of the page
   * Select the correct workspace

3. Request access:
   * Ask a workspace Maintainer or Owner to invite you to the project you need. They must be a member of that project, and they send the invitation from its **Settings → Users** page
   * Invite links expire after 24 hours, so ask for a new invitation if yours has expired

4. Check your email:
   * Look for the project invitation email
   * Accept the invitation to join

For the other invitation messages, see [Troubleshoot invitations](https://docs.qualflare.com/docs/administration/users#troubleshoot).
