Project teams

Group Qualflare project members into teams, assign teams to test suites and defects, filter Browse by team, and know who can manage teams.

Last updated

In Qualflare, a project team is a named group of project members that you can assign test suites and defects to; teams belong to one project, and creating or changing one needs the Maintainer role or higher in the project.

Project teams aren't the Microsoft Teams integration. To post Qualflare events to a Microsoft Teams channel, see Integrations.

Accessing Teams

Navigate to Teams in the project sidebar.

Team List View

The team list shows all teams in the project with:

  • Name, with the team's member count
  • Description
  • Date Created
  • Row actions: Edit, Delete
The Teams page lists each team with its member count.

To create a team:

  1. Click Create Team.
  2. Enter a Name and an optional Description.
  3. Click Create.
Create a team with a name and an optional description.

Team Detail View

Click a team name to open its detail page. It shows the team's description and a table of its members (Member column).

  • Add Member: pick project members from a searchable list. You can add only project members.
  • Remove: the remove button on a member's row
  • Edit and Delete: in the page's More options menu

The detail page doesn't list the team's suites or defects. To see a team's suites, filter Browse by Team.

Add Member picks from the project's members.

Route work to teams

Editor+ · project (requires the Editor role or higher in the project)

Test cases and defects can't be assigned to a single person. Assign suites and defects to a team instead, as the next two sections show. To assign people rather than a team, add them as a milestone's Assignees (see Milestones). Assigning a team to a suite or a defect is recorded in Audit Logs Scale and above (available on Scale, Enterprise, Open Source).

Assigning Teams to Suites

Pick a team in the Team column of a suite's row in Browse, or with the team selector on the suite's detail page.

Assigning Teams to Defects

Pick a team in the Team column on the Defects page. The create-defect form has no Team field. Team members can get an email when a defect is assigned to their team (Team Assignment Notifications under Settings > Notifications). See Manage Defects.

Assign a defect to a team in the Team column.

Filtering by Team

  • Browse: filter test suites by Team
  • Defects: shows a Team column, but has no Team filter

In the Browse filter bar, the key is teamSeq (Team). See Filter keys by page.

Filter Browse by Team to see a team's suites.

Permissions

Maintainer+ · project (requires the Maintainer role or higher in the project)

Creating, editing or deleting a team, and adding or removing its members, needs the Maintainer role or higher in the project. Assigning a team to a suite or a defect needs the Editor role or higher. In the web app today, Create Team, Edit, Add Member and Remove turn on with the Editor role in the project, but saving needs Maintainer or higher, and Delete turns on only for the project's Owner.

Notifications

When someone adds you to a team, Qualflare shows the notification You were added to a team. When a defect is assigned to your team, every team member except the person who assigned it gets Your team was assigned to a defect, and an email if Team Assignment Notifications is on under Settings > Notifications.

Deleting a team

Deleting a team removes it from every suite and defect it was assigned to. The suites and defects stay.
