Search, filters and shortcuts

Filter Qualflare lists with key:value tokens, save Explore queries, and jump to any page with the command palette and keyboard shortcuts.

Last updated

Qualflare has no global search across test cases, launches and defects: the command palette (Shift+/) opens pages, and the filter bar on each list page narrows that page's records with key:value tokens. This page lists every filter key by page, the saved-query actions on Explore and every keyboard shortcut.

Command palette

Qualflare has no global search across test cases, launches and defects. The Search... box in the top bar opens the command palette, which takes you to a page.

Opening the palette

  • Click Search... in the top bar (shown on wide screens)
  • Or press Shift+/ (the ? key) anywhere outside a text field

Using the palette

To find test cases, launches or defects, use the filter bar on that page.

The command palette opens pages; it doesn't search test cases, launches or defects.

Filter bar syntax

List pages such as Browse, Explore, Launches and Defects have a filter bar. Type filters into it and press Enter to apply them.

You typeWhat it does
key:valueFilters on one field, for example severity:critical
key:value1,value2Matches any of the values, for example severity:critical, high
key:"two words"Quotes a value that contains spaces
Two or more filtersAll of them apply at once, for example severity:critical status:active
Plain wordsA free-text search on the page, for example login
key:trueTurns on a yes/no filter, for example archived:true on Browse
Filters are key:value tokens; commas match any of the values, and separate tokens all apply.

Rules:

  • Only the keys listed for a page work there. Any other word:value is treated as plain text.
  • As you type, the bar suggests keys and then values. Pick values that come from your data, such as environments, languages, teams and categories, from the suggestions: the filter stores an ID, so a typed display name may not match.
  • There are no AND, OR or NOT operators, no parentheses, no wildcards such as *, and no comparisons such as > or <.
As you type, the filter bar suggests keys and then values from your data.

AI filter on Explore

On Explore, you can describe the cases you want in plain words instead. Click the Quo icon in the filter bar, or type / while the bar is empty, then write a request such as "active high-priority manual cases". Qualflare turns it into filters. See Using AI-Powered Filtering.

Launchesplatform, automation, environment, languageplatform: android, ios, web (type ios in lower case; the iOS suggestion matches no launch today). automation: automated, manual
Defectsseverity, status, category, environmentseverity: low, medium, high, critical. status: active, action_required, false_positive, closed, reopened. category: the categories your defects use, such as flaky
Failure Clustersseverity, statusseverity: critical, high, medium, low. status: pending, analysed
AI Insightsstatusactive, accepted, declined, stale
Audit Logs (workspace)actorType, action, resourceType, from, tofrom and to take a date

Every page except Audit Logs also takes plain words as a free-text search.

On Explore, the state filter offers active, pending, inactive and archived. Only active matches a case state today. To filter Draft, Review or Outdated cases, use a suite's Test Cases tab.

Custom fields, pass rate, duration, assignee, reporter and resolved date are not filters on any page.

Sorting and shareable views

  • Click a column header to sort by it. Click it again to reverse the order. Lists sort by one column at a time.
  • Your filters, sort order and page number are part of the page's URL. Refreshing keeps them, and you can bookmark the URL or send it to a teammate to show the same view.
  • The sidebar links open pages with their default filters: none on most pages, and only Active recommendations on AI Insights.

Saved queries on Explore

Saved queries live on the Explore page (the Test Case Explorer on qualflare.com), for test cases. Other pages don't have saved searches.

Saving a query

  1. On Explore, set the filters you want.
  2. Click Save Query.
  3. Enter a Query Name and save.

Loading and updating a query

  • Load: pick a query from the Saved Queries picker. Type in Search queries... to find one.
  • Update Query: overwrite the loaded query with the current filters.
  • Save As: save the current filters as a new query under a new name.

Saved queries can't be renamed or deleted in the app yet.

Who can see saved queries

Saved queries belong to the project, not to a person: every project member sees them. Saving, updating and Save As need a project role:

Editor+ · project (requires the Editor role or higher in the project)

In the web app today, that has to be your role in this project: a higher workspace role alone doesn't turn the buttons on. See Users & Roles.

You can attach saved queries to a test plan on its Dynamic Queries tab, but they don't add cases to the plan's runs yet; see Test Plans Reference. See Exploring Cases and Saved Queries for step-by-step instructions.

Search tips and best practices

Common search patterns

GoalPageType this
Critical and high defects that are still openDefectsseverity:critical, high status:active,action_required
Active defects in the Flaky Test categoryDefectscategory:flaky status:active
Critical and high manual cases about loginExplorepriority:critical, high automation:manual login

Archived suites and casesBrowsearchived:true

category:flaky is suggested once at least one defect in the project has that category.

Troubleshooting search issues

No results:

  • Remove filters one at a time to find the one that excludes everything
  • Check the key: an unknown key becomes plain text, which may match nothing
  • Pick environment, language, team and category values from the suggestions instead of typing them

Too many results:

  • Add another filter. Separate filters all apply at once
  • Add a word to narrow the free-text search

Limits

Search and filters in Qualflare have these limits:

  • There is no global search across test cases, launches and defects: the command palette opens pages, not records.
  • The filter bar has no AND, OR or NOT operators, no parentheses, no wildcards and no comparisons.
  • Custom fields, pass rate, duration, assignee, reporter and resolved date are not filters on any page.
  • Saved queries exist only on Explore, and they can't be renamed or deleted in the app yet.
  • On Explore, the state filter matches only active today.
