AI filter in Explore

Describe the test cases you want in plain English, and the Qualflare AI filter turns it into Explore filters for state, priority, test type and automation.

Last updated

To filter test cases in plain English in Qualflare, switch the Explore filter bar to AI mode and describe the cases you want; you need the Editor role in the project, and each filter uses one Quo message.

Before you begin

  • Generating a filter: Editor+ · project (requires the Editor role or higher in the project).
  • Enable AI Features must be on for the project, in Project Settings > AI Features. Changing it: Editor+ · workspace (requires the Editor role or higher in the workspace).
  • Each filter Qualflare generates uses one Quo message from the workspace's daily and monthly allowance, and only when filters come back. Starter has 10 messages per day; every plan is on AI Features settings and limits.
  • The AI filter works on Explore only. The filter bar's own syntax is on Search, filters and shortcuts.

Switch to AI mode

Open Explore

Click Explore in the project sidebar.

Click the Quo icon in the filter bar

Click the Quo icon at the right end of the filter bar, or press / while the bar is empty.

Check that AI mode is on

The Quo icon moves to the start of the bar, and the input shows example prompts that type themselves out.

Some example prompts mention suites, dates or a draft or review state, which Explore can't filter. Use the requests in Write a request instead.

Click the Quo icon, or press slash in the empty bar, to describe cases in plain English.

Write a request

Type your request in plain English and press Enter. For example:

Active high-priority manual cases
Automated API tests with login in the name
Critical manual smoke tests
All regression tests marked as critical priority

Qualflare maps your request to the filters Explore supports and applies them to the case table:

  • State: Active. The State filter also lists Pending, Inactive and Archived, but no case has those states, so they match nothing. To filter Draft, Review or Outdated cases, use a suite's Test Cases tab (Test suites).
  • Priority: Critical, High, Medium or Low
  • Test Type: for example Unit, Regression, Integration, E2E, API or Smoke
  • Automation: Automated or Manual
  • Search: a word or phrase matched against case names

Explore can't filter by suite, by date, or by a run result such as failed. Qualflare drops those parts of your request or turns them into a Search term, so check the filters it applied.

Tip: be specific about what Explore can filter: the active state, a priority (critical, high, medium, low), a test type (for example regression, API or E2E), automated or manual, and a word from the case name.

In AI mode the Quo icon moves to the start of the bar; press Enter to generate.

Check the applied filters

You should see the bar back in standard mode with the filters as text, for example priority:critical testType:regression, and the matching cases below it. Edit that text like any other filter.

To leave AI mode without generating filters, press Esc or click the X button. Filters you already applied stay in effect.

The generated filters appear as editable text, and Save Query keeps them.

Troubleshoot

The AI input shows no error of its own. A failed request shows a toast titled Oops with the server's message:

Save the filters as a query

After Qualflare applies the filters, click Save Query to save them as a named saved query. You can reuse them without describing them again; see Explore and saved queries.
