Notifications and emails
Every in-app notification and email Qualflare sends, who gets each one, the project email switches, one-click unsubscribe and how long notifications are kept.
Last updated
Qualflare notifies you in the app, through the bell in the header, and by email; in-app notifications are deleted after 90 days, and each project's email switches and your own opt-out decide which emails you get.
In-app notifications
Select the bell in the header to open Notifications. The bell shows the unread count, up to 99+, and Mark all read appears while any are unread. Select a notification to open the item it's about, or point at it and select × to dismiss it. The list refreshes every minute while the Qualflare tab is visible, and reads "No notifications yet" when it's empty. Low-value and redundant test insights carry a Create Defect button that works once per notification.

Import finished: <file name> or Import failed: <file name> | Project members | No switch: Import finished turns off only the email |
A defect someone creates on the Defects page or through the API and a new failure cluster send an email, not an in-app notification.
Project email switches
A project's four email switches and three insight switches are on Project Settings > Notifications, all on by default. Project Email Notifications lists what each email switch sends. Changing them needs the Editor role or higher in the workspace.
Editor+ · workspace (requires the Editor role or higher in the workspace)Emails Qualflare sends
Project emails go to the project's members, except anyone who turned off that project's emails (see Stop emails). Emails for the workspace Owner go to one Owner: the workspace's creator while they hold the Owner role, otherwise the longest-standing Owner.
| Project email | When | Who gets it |
|---|---|---|
New defect in <project> | Someone creates a defect on the Defects page or through the API, if Defect Notifications is on | Project members |
New failure cluster in <project> | A new failure cluster gets its name, if Cluster Notifications is on | Project members |
You've been assigned a defect | A defect is assigned to your team, if Team Assignment Notifications is on | The team's members, except whoever assigned it |
You've been assigned a milestone | Someone assigns you to a milestone | The people assigned, except whoever assigned them |
Your import into <project> is complete or Your import into <project> failed | A test case import finishes or fails, if Import finished is on | Project members |
Your export is ready | An export finishes; no project switch turns it off | Project members |
Account and security emails go to you: Verify your email, Welcome to Qualflare, You already have an account, Your account is deactivated, Reset your password, You've been invited to join a project, New sign-in from a different location (see New IP login alerts), Security notice for your account (for a security change, and 7 days before an access token you created expires, except for 7-day tokens), Google reported a security event on your account, Your account will be deactivated on <date> and Your account is now managed by <workspace> (when a workspace's single sign-on takes over your account).
Single sign-on emails go to the workspace Owner when a signing certificate of the SSO connection expires in 30, 7 or 1 days (Your SSO certificate expires in <n> days), when the daily check misses a verified domain's TXT record, and when your identity provider's metadata changes.
Billing emails go to the workspace Owner; their subjects are listed under Billing emails on Plan & Billing.
Stop emails
To stop a project's emails for yourself, turn off Your Email Notifications on the project's Notifications tab (see Your Email Notifications). It stops every email from that project to you, including the team assignment and milestone emails.
The switch currently saves only for members with a workspace role of Editor or higher. If it doesn't change for you, use the one-click Unsubscribe option your mail app shows on any email from this project.
Only the project emails above have an unsubscribe option.
If the email service has suppressed your address, for example after a message to it bounced or was marked as spam, Qualflare emails don't reach it. Contact support.
Not sent
Qualflare sends no email or in-app notification when a launch finishes. For that, use the Launch Completed and Launch Failed events of Slack or the launch.completed event of webhooks; both come only from results uploaded with the CLI, a reporter or the API, not from manual runs. Every event an integration can send is listed in Integration events. There are no email digests and no notifications for @mentions.
Retention
In-app notifications are deleted after 90 days. See Data retention.
